The Story
A new generation joins the world's leading action stars in this adrenaline-fueled adventure. Reuniting their team of elite mercenaries, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone are joined for the first time by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia. These new recruits will give a whole other meaning to the term "new blood". Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, The Expendables are the world's last line of defense.
Our Role
Our team at WorldWide FX London played a pivotal role in several scenes that feature the iconic Blackhawk helicopter. Most noticeably the thrilling sequence with a rocket assault on the helicopter, launched by Statham himself.
These particular shots posed a multitude of challenges, spanning from achieving realistic destruction effects to seamlessly blending animation and from adding soaring debris to creating imposing explosions. Upon impact the blazing Blackhawk flies across the ship's deck and into the dark and rapid water. Our team faced the unique task of recreating this vast expanse of the ocean surrounding, yet another key player in the movie, the Jintara ship.
